The book argues that petitions help Chinese central government to maintain its decentralized authoritarian regime by providing an information edge in its relations with local officials and citizens. In addition to her research on the petition system and decentralized authoritarianism in China, she has also published in peer-reviewed journals on a variety of topics, such as China’s participation in U.N. She is the author of Useful Complaints: How Petitions Assist Decentralized Authoritarianism in China(Lexington, 2016). She teaches courses in Comparative Politics and International Relations with a focus on Pacific Asia, UN, Authoritarianism, Emerging Powers, and US-China Relations. Now we’re at the fast developing stage, however, there is gap between the research frontiers and realistic applications. Quantum computing is a revolutionary field, which would bring us computational power, benefiting various R&D directions. Question & Answer Why have you chosen a career in quantum? Jing has also contributed to the development of automatic fermionic feature of ITensor, one of the most worldwide used tensor network libraries. at Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017, he joined Flatiron Institute, Simons Foundation as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where he spent the last four years doing work under the supervision of Miles Stoudenmire. He has also made significant contributions at the intersection of machine learning (ML) and these quantum-inspired tensor-network generative models. Jing Chen is an expert (10+ years) in developing and applying computational methods based on tensor networks to study many-body/condensed matter physics. ![]()
